Structured assessment and rehabilitation for persistent foot and ankle pain

Persistent foot and ankle pain is rarely resolved by isolated treatments.
In most cases, it reflects how load is applied through the foot and lower limb — and whether the tissues involved have the capacity to tolerate that load.
At Precision Gait Clinic, treatment follows a structured process focused on identifying and addressing these factors.

The Precision Gait Pathway

This ensures the focus remains on addressing the cause of your symptoms — not just managing them.

Assessment

Advanced MSK Assessment & Gait Analysis

A 60–90 minute biomechanics assessment designed to understand why your symptoms have developed — and what needs to change to resolve them.

Structured, unrushed, and focused on identifying the cause of your pain.

Rehabilitation

Rehabilitation Programmes

Structured, progressive programmes designed to improve strength, increase load tolerance, and restore efficient movement.

Rehabilitation is the primary driver of recovery for most mechanical foot and ankle conditions.

Load Management (When Indicated)

Custom Orthoses

Used where appropriate to redistribute load and reduce stress on specific tissues.

Orthoses are prescribed based on assessment findings and are used alongside rehabilitation — not as a standalone solution.

Important

Most patients improve through assessment and rehabilitation alone.
Additional interventions may be used where symptoms are limiting progress — but they do not address the underlying mechanical drivers or capacity deficits.

ADDITIONAL SUPPORTIVE INTERVENTIONS

Supportive Interventions (When Indicated)

In some cases, additional treatments may be used to reduce pain or improve movement so that rehabilitation can progress more effectively.
Structured, unrushed, and focused on identifying the cause of your pain.

These approaches are used selectively and always as part of a broader management plan.

They support progress — but do not replace structured rehabilitation.
